A test for gas soundness must now be carried out:

Whenever a smell of gas is suspected or reported.

Whenever work is done on a gas fitting which might affect its gas soundness.

Before restoring the gas supply after work on an installation.

Prior to the fitting of a gas meter, on new or existing pipework or installations.

On the original installation prior to connecting any extension.

On completion of any extension or alteration.

Before wrapping, painting, burying or concealing any installation pipework.

When was the last time that a gas soundness test was carried out at your premises?
Gas soundness tests must be performed:
  1. whenever a smell of gas is suspected or reported.
  2. whenever work is done on a gas fitting
  3. before restoring the gas supply after work on an installation.
  4. prior to the fitting of a gas meter
  5. on completion of any extension or alteration.
  6. before wrapping, painting, burying or concealing any installation
